A fruitful and engaging Roundtable Discussion on “Language Teaching in the Age of AI, Multiliteracies, and Superdiversity: Opportunities and Tensions” was held at SMUCT on Saturday, 4 April 2026.
The event, jointly organized by Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA) and the Department of English of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, brought together educators from universities, colleges, and schools across Bangladesh.
Distinguished discussants included Dr. Naureen Rahnuma (IUB), Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque (EWU), and Md Shahrear Talukder (SMUCT), with moderation by Dr. Md Shaiful Islam (IUB & BELTA VP). The event was honored by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Md. Shah-E-Alam (VC, SMUCT) and Special Guest Dr. Syed Azizul Haque (Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science). BELTA President Professor Ahmed Bashir (University of Dhaka) and General Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Mohib Ullah (IIUC) were also present, supporting the event with their leadership.
The discussion highlighted both the opportunities and challenges in English language teaching in the era of AI, multiliteracies, and superdiverse classrooms, emphasizing adaptive, inclusive, and context-sensitive pedagogical approaches.
