Celebration of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples-2022

“International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples-2022” has been celebrated by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. On the occasion of this celebration, students made poster presentations on the lifestyle and socio-culture of Chakma, Marma, Santal and Manipuri Muslim communities. Prof. Shamsun Nahar, Honorable Head of the Department, was present as the chief guest in this event. Honorable teachers of the department, Md. Mehedi Hasan, Dr. Khandaker Morsheda Farhana, Tazia Sultana and Khalilullah Muhammad Bayezid were also present.

Note that every year a theme is chosen to celebrate the day. This year the theme of the day is ‘Role of Indigenous Women in Preservation and Development of Traditional Knowledge’.
