An interactive meeting on “Employment” was successfully held at Shanto-Mariam University of
Creative Technology, Uttara, Dhaka, on Tuesday, October 28. The session took place in the
university’s conference hall in a lively and collaborative atmosphere.
The event was jointly organized by the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation
Program (SCIP) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association
(BGMEA), in association with the Department of Apparel Manufacturing Management and
Technology (AMMT) of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology. The main goal of the
program was to develop skilled human resources according to the industry’s evolving needs in
sectors such as Ready-Made Garments (RMG) and Textiles, thereby strengthening the link
between employers and job seekers while promoting business growth, career development,
and national economic advancement.
The meeting was graced by Mr. Md. Shahab Udduza Chowdhury, Vice President of BGMEA and
Managing Director of Amity Design Ltd., as the Chief Guest. The Keynote Presentation was
delivered by Mr. Majumder Arifur Rahman, Director of BGMEA and Managing Director of
Magpie Composite Textile Ltd. and Guest of honor Professor Mostafizul Haque, renowned artist
and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shanto-Mariam University
Among the Special Guests Mrs. Rumana Rashid, Director of BGMEA and Managing Director of
Rumana Fashion Ltd.; Professor Shishir Kumar Bhattacharjee, Dean of the Faculty of Design and
Technology; and Dr. Par Masiur Rahman, Registrar of the University.
The program commenced with a welcome speech from Ms. Farzana Mita, Head of the
department, AMMT. Later, Engr. Lablu Miah, Associate Professor, Dept. of AMMT and Center
In-charge delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the training process of the SICIP-
BGMEA-SMUCT effectively. The session concluded with an engaging open discussion and Q&A
segment, encouraging interaction between industry leaders and young professionals. The
program has been hosted by Engr. Reashad Bin Kabir, Associate Professor, Dept. of AMMT.
