Virtual Freshman Orientation (FDT & AMMT)

Country’s first and leading design university, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology welcomed their new students of Apparel Manufacturing Management & Technology (AMMT) and Fashion Design & Technology (FDT) Department Since, they have admitted and continued online for Undergraduate Program in Summer 2021 Semester so the arrangement was also in remote due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

Both FDT and AMMT departments jointly conducted The “Virtual Freshman Orientation” program on 19th August, 2021 through Zoom platform. About 109 students were participated in the program, this activity was arranged to ensure that the newest members of the SMUCT family along with their parents are given the necessary information about the university. The virtual orientation program was also broadcasted live on Shanto-Mariam University’s official Facebook page.

In her welcome remarks, Vice Chancellor Professor Samsun Nahar calls for the SMUCT community to work together during pandemic, she also emphasized the significance of online learning for the safety of everyone.

Arch Hosne Ara Rahman, Advisor of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology Chaired the program while Dr. Jebunnahar, Director (Acting), IQAC was the Special Guest; Kaikobad Rana, Joint Registrar (Academic) also presented in this program.

Arch Hosne Ara Rahman said, “We have been able to run our educational activities online even in the time of global pandemic; she also thanked qualified and meritorious faculty members who are involved in this entire journey.”

“We are committed to providing high quality education to our students. We have local and international qualified faculty members who guide the students with utmost care. I personally request the guardians to keep eyes on their children so that their journey to achieve higher education becomes smooth”, Dr. Jebunnahar , Director (Acting), IQAC mentioned in her speech.

Farjana Mita, Additional Head, Dept. of AMMT and Afroza Haq Daizy, Additional Head, Dept. of FDT discussed various aspects of their concern department along with career prospects.

The entire program was anchored by Afsana Ferdous (FDT, 30th Batch) while Engr. Reashad Bin Kabir (Asst. Prof.), Md. Mizanur Rahman (Asst. Prof.) and Md. Shohel Anwarr Apu (Lecturer ) hosted the program.

Couple of fresh students and current students shared their feelings of online education; on the other hand, couple of successful alumni talked about their work life experience along with future aspects.

A cultural event was displayed by the students from both departments. It was inaugurated by a song from Shuvro Andrew Costa; after that Purnima Rani Sinha performed a tribal dance; finally Pavel Nicholas Rozario sang a song with guitar. A fascinating Fashion Show was streamed to wrap up the cultural event.
