Freshers’ Reception followed by a glamorous cultural program for Summer 2022 semester students of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) was held on 30 July 2022 at the Polwel Convention Centre at Uttara. Professor Artist Mostafizul Haque, hon’ble Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka graced the program as the Chief Guest and Dr. Md. Ahsanul Kabir, hon’ble Chairman of Shanto-Mariam Foundation was the Special Guest. Prof. Shamsun Nahar, Vice Chancellor (In-charge) presided over the event. The program was anchored by Ms. Lily Islam, Associate Professor, Music dept. and Director, Public Relations. Deans of the Faculties, Head of the Departments, Registrar, Advisors and Officials were also present in the program.
Prof. Artist Mostafizul Haque welcomed the newly admitted students and expressed his gratitude to their guardians for rightly chosen the state-of-the-art cultural university of the nation for shaping and guiding the future of their beloved ones. He told that Shanto-Mariam University is a centre of multi-discipline programs where students irrespective of their backgrounds and programs get the opportunities to flourish their inherent talent through mixing with their fellow students studying in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing & Management Technology, Graphic Design & Multimedia, Interior Architect, Computer Science, Law, English Language & Literature, Fine Art, Music, Dance, Business Administration, Islamic Studies, Government & Politics, Sociology & Anthropology programs. He also advised the students to be more focused on pursuing their dream with hard work, dedication, honesty, and most, importantly with ethical values and morality. On the other hand, Dr. Md. Ahsanul Kabir shared the mission and vision of establishing this dynamic cultural University by the Founding Chairman, valiant freedom fighter late. Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto who was also the Founder of Sundarban Courier Services and Shanto-Mariam Foundation, and spent his whole life for improving the lives of the poor through philanthropic works.
The whole program was greatly enjoyed with the colorful performances of the students of Music and Dance departments followed by the energetic and passionate musical performances of the renowned band “Chirkutt”. The event ended with a vote of thanks from the Vice Chancellor.
