Bangladesh is a rapidly developing country in South Asia having breathtaking landscapes. This country’s rich history and culture are reflected in its diverse traditions, languages, and heritage.
Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971 from Pakistan. It is also a matter of great pride for us that we are the only nation who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their mother tongue, Bangla, on the 21st of February, 1952, honored by UNESCO as the International Mother Language Day. The country has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing economies.
This “‘land of rivers”’ is famous for its hundreds of rivers, vibrant six seasons, natural beauty,
and sites like the Sundarbans, (the largest mangrove forest in the world.);, Cox’s Bazar, the

“‘Silk City,”’, is famous for its silk production, picturesque Padma River, luscious mangoes, and

Bangladesh is renowned for its thriving industries and traditional craftsmanship, including
Muslin, the garment industry, and Tat Shilpo (handloom weaving). The Muslin fabric is the
national pride of this country. Artisans create beautiful textiles like Jamdani saris which was
declared a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. Bangladesh is one of the
world’s largest exporters of garments producing high-quality apparel for international brands.
The handloom industry of Tangail is a hallmark of the country’s rich heritage and having global
demand.
