About the department
The Department of Bangla is the one of the oldest departments in our country, Bangladesh. Bengali literature is a very reputed form of literature in the world of literature. In different times many prominent poets and writers have made Bengali literature rich. Bengali is also one of the most widely known languages in the world. Bengali literature has a very rich history extending up to more than a thousand years.
From Cyaraghitika to modern Bengali literature each piece made a valuable ground for Bengali literature. Bengali literature a large number of famous poets and writers like Isharchandra Bidyasagar, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay, Novel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, national poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam, Modern poet Jebonnanada Das, Shamsur Rahman etc. Students of this department can easily learn about the works of great poets and writers of Bengali literature. Bengali literature also reflects the Bengali Society from ancient to modern. If any students want to know about Bengali society he/she will achieve a lot of material from Bengali literature. Students will study Bangla linguistics and phonetics, Bengali life and culture, history of Bengal and literary works of major writers.
