Our Fashion Design and Technology programme, the largest and foremost programme in the country, has been preparing students for success, since its inception in 2003, in all segments of the market. Our students are a major source of skilled professionals in the readymade garments (RMG) exports industry.
A career in any aspect of fashion design is very challenging and complex due mainly to the global nature of fashion, textile and retail industries. The fashion designer’s job is one of creative directions, working with team spirit to develop appropriate, innovative, commercially viable clothing for today’s fast changing world markets. Due to the global nature of the industries involved, clothing made in Bangladesh, from textiles sourced from home and abroad, are subsequently exported all over the world. This system requires designers to be informed on a wide range of issues such as global commerce, market forces, consumer information, cultural awareness, and ‘state-of-the-art’ technology.

The students gain practical industrial training at our associate organizations, such as Shanto-Mariam Fashions Limited, Creative the Art Mall which is a distinctive feature of our programme.
