BSS (Hons) in Sociology and Anthropology

The BSS (Honours) in Sociology & Anthropology programme is designed to provide students the knowledge and critical skills needed to understand our complex social norms, behavior and culture. Our curriculum provides students a foundation for understanding the community they live in, and equips them to participate in meaningful social change. The Programme includes the following arenas: comparative historical sociology; financial and economic sociology; urban studies; cultural studies; research on religion; family, health and demography studies; work, class, mobility and inequalities; politics, power and violence; law, justice, human rights, social movements and deviance; kinship, gender and sexuality; visual and popular culture, media and communication studies. The programme strives to equip students with core theoretical and methodological skill sets with which to critically analyse any societal area, comparatively and historically.The programme has numerous options of creativity in the field of public services, research institutes, public health and welfare organizations, private businesses, law firms, international agencies, medical centers, educational institutions, advertising firms, survey and polling organizations.
