The Department of Dance at the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology within the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts plays a vibrant role in the University’s mission to impart education for the development of art and culture in the society. It is the first department to offer degree in Dance at the university level in Bangladesh. Our programmes focus on the dance genres of the Indian sub-continent. The curricula are designed to give students a diverse and broad-based knowledge as a dance degree graduate and will allow them to develop their dancing skills, thinking and creativity.

The modules will cover the history of dance and the richness of dance genres of the Indian Subcontinent such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Monipuri and other styles. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings and showcase their performing talents. The faculty members nurture the needs of the students and help them to build their talent and passion for dance.

The department resides in Kalma Campus, Savar where students can enjoy the natural and serene environment of the campus. There are acoustic musical studios for performance. The University provides transport facilities with own buses and students are also offered substantial scholarship and waivers in each semester and at the time of new admission.
