📚 Library Rules & Policies

Guidelines to ensure a respectful, organized, and knowledge-friendly environment at SMUCT Library

⏰ Library Hours

Open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, seven (07) days a week
Closed on national and public holidays

A) Library Users

  • All active students, teachers, officers, and Board of Trustees members are library users
  • Users must ensure correct name and contact details are registered

B) Book Requisition

Faculty members, students, and officers may request books through their respective Head of the Department for library procurement.

C) Book Borrowing Rules

🎓 Students

  • 02 books for 15 days
  • Renewable once for another 15 days

👩‍🏫 Teachers & Officers

  • 05 books for 30 days
  • Renewable once for another month
  • Reference books, journals, magazines & newspapers are for in-library use only
  • ID card is mandatory for issuing and returning books
  • ID cards must not be shared

D) Books Overdue Rules

A fine of ৳5 per day per book will be charged after the due date.

📕 Book Loss & Damage Policy

Borrower Responsibilities

  • Timely renewal and return of books
  • Regular checking of IEMS borrowing history

Lost Materials

  • Loss must be reported immediately
  • Replacement cost + ৳100 processing fee
  • Failure may lead to academic penalties

Loss or Damage

  • Damaged items must be replaced with the latest edition
  • Only original copies are accepted
  • Theft or intentional damage may result in legal action

💻 Computer & Internet Usage

  • Use for academic and research purposes only
  • Saving files on cloud/personal storage is recommended
  • Copyright laws and Cyber Security Act must be followed
  • All computers shut down 15 minutes before closing

📌 General Rules & Conduct

  • Bags must be kept at the baggage counter
  • Mobile phones must be on silent mode
  • No food, drinks, or group discussions
  • Writing or marking books is prohibited
  • Unauthorized removal of books leads to disciplinary action
  • Disruptive behavior may result in suspension of library access
